Using the AR-works plugin, you can simply export 3D models from Vectorworks and then - interactively - show them to your clients in a whole new way. The ease with which you can move thorough your 3D model will enable you to show and explain your proposed design in a way never before possible.
Essentially, you open the model on your screen, then - using a web cam to capture your movements, you move a 'marker' around in your hands, which manipulates what you see on the screen.
TRY IT YOURSELF - download the AR-works installer (Windows / Mac ) and open up the viewer. Click on the Marker tab and quickly print your own "marker" page. Then open up the sample model provided and see how easy it is to view from all angles.
Using the web-cam, AR-works can read the movement of your "marker" page. AR-works will then rotate or spin your model according to your movements. It is remarkably easy to do!
You can even slice your model and create sections - allowing you to show interior views of your design. By rotating and turning the "marker" you can explore your model with ease.
Even if you are not in the same location, you can share your AR-works file with your clients - just send them a link and they will be able to download everything they require. Your client can access a copy of the AR-works 'Viewer' as well as the 'Marker' file, which they can print out and use as the trigger for their AR experience.
Once your client has the AR software and marker, you simply email your AR model straight to your client. The best way for your client to view the model is using a computer with a webcam, however, even without a webcam, the model can be viewed in 'on screen' mode.
Your client can simply load your model in the AR-Works 'Viewer' application. In moments, they can explore your proposed design 'in their hand' or on their desk - as a fully interactive 3D model.
When the model is first launched, you have an option to hide the model inside a presentation box. By pressing any key on the keyboard the box will fade away, and, as if 'by magic', the model will be revealed on the "marker" You can even select or upload a personalized design/texture to appear on the 'reveal' box.
Using AR-works to view a 3D model will allow the user to see and interact with the model in a number of different ways:
AR-works allows clients to make more informed decisions and simplify the design process.
